Timeline OM10

The aim of openmovement is not only to publish the construction as open source, but also to offer parts kits for sale. So that the wheel does not always have to be reinvented by each individual and the building of movements also reaches an unseen diversity outside of large groups.

We are still waiting for a few prototype parts to be produced in a training centre. Unfortunately, the delivery of these is delayed.

The prototypes are built so that they can then be tested. The donator watches are also built and the co-donator parts kits are put together.
The last serial parts for the movement and the last parts for the donator watches will be made. These are the hands, dial, date ring and strap.

The very first OM10 MAN prototype is ticking! And was shown as a worldwide première at TEDx La Chaux-de-Fonds. The accuracy values promise a good chronometry.

The last part for a very first prototype has arrived. It was made by a school and presented the students with quite the reality of parts production. The process of making these parts took over a year.

In fact, the delivery difficulties of our suppliers are so great that this challenges all of our patience. However, we are happy that the parts that arrive meet the requirements.

It was planned that all prototype parts would arrive this year. Unfortunately, we are experiencing delivery delays.

After a long phase of requests for quotations and careful planning, almost all parts for the OM10 prototypes have now been ordered. This has taken more time than planned and delivery times have skyrocketed. The hands of openmovement are definitely moving forward, but a little more patience than expected is called for.

After all the years in which we have invested well over 5,000 hours in volunteer work in openmovement, the new year 2022 begins with very happy news: we have reached 75% of the budget and thus the minimum of the funding target, which we need – in the style of the pioneers of space travel – as GoFlight for the entire prototype phase of the world’s first opensource watch movement!

So that we don’t have to make too big compromises when it comes to homologation and the way to serial production of the individual parts, it is nonetheless important to find the 25% of the budget that is missing.

In order for the whole prototype phase to take place, the minimum number of sponsors is needed by this date.

The new funding target is set for Dezember 31 2021.

Although we have not found all the sponsors, a sponsor share has been unlocked so that the planning of the prototypes can move forward until other sponsors will join.

Goal to find ten sponsors for OM10 prototypes and homologation.
